Recording, Shows, Sup.
Sup?
Hey D-Rads, how’s it going? Yeah, i’m fine thanks. Freezing my tits off in London, but it’s awesome! So what’s going on? Well, we’ve been taking things slow for the last 6 months or so; doing lots of writing and doing even more beer drinking. However, the time has come to burn off the beer-bellies (or at least try to) because we’re starting to book shows for our Summer Tour!
The deets on the shows will be coming in the next week or so, so keep an eye open!
In other news, we’re in the studio working on album number 2!
Matt and myself finished up drums and bass a month or so back and now Mas is knee deep in guitar tracks. Seriously, silly amounts of guitar tracks. It’s awesome.
Loads of people have been asking me about the direction of the next record, and all i can really say is it’s a mix of everything we’ve done in the past (Pug Jelly/Saw Loser/The Dirt Radicals) but the logical next step. I’m halfway through the lyrics at the moment, and one of the ongoing themes seems to be the struggles the three of us have been going through over the last year, and how through it all we’ve emerged stronger and ready to kill it!
Well, I guess this is it. Take it easy, and say hi to your mum for me!

BRING ON 2012!
Heyo!
Well, well, well… What a year huh?
We’ve had some of the most amazing times of our lives this year, and travelled to places we never thought we’d see ourselves go to, playing alongside some of the greatest artists on the planet and for that we are truly grateful!
From Taichung in Taiwan, to Bali in Indonesia, to Osaka in Japan we have met some of the nicest people, drank some of the tastiest beer, and partied in some of the nastiest places possible.
We’ve shared the stage with the greats; from Good Charlotte, to Guttermouth, to ALL TIME LOW, to Useless ID. Too bad they can’t say the same about us! Ha!
So what’s in store for 2012?
A new album! Loads more touring! Collaborations! Partying! And hopefully hanging out with you guys a whole bunch more.
From everyone here at The Dirt Radicals we’d like to say a big THANK YOU for all your ongoing support; whether it’s buying our album, clicking like on our Facebook page, rocking out at a show, following us on Twitter, spending your hard earned cash on our merch, or just being a friend of ours - we truly appreciate it and don’t take it for granted.
So THANK YOU, and we look forward to seeing you in 2012!
To wrap things up, check out our video for ‘Drop It!’ with all our touring highlights of 2011.
Spread the word and keep it real - we’re taking over in 2012!
Lots of love,
THE DIRT RADICALS
2012 + RECORDING NEW ALBUM + YEAH
Hey whattup everyone?
Sam here. How’s it going? Where did 2011 go?
So, the exciting news is we’ll officially start working on our new album in 2012! We’ve chosen 13 of our favorites to record and we definitely think these songs are a natural progression for us.
In terms of direction, it’s a little darker but it’s still punk rock. Lyrically i’m going a bit more personal, and a lot less vague - really gonna let you inside my head on these ones. Which is scary, because some disturbing shit goes on up there. LOLZZZZZ.
I’d say we’re looking down the barrel of a mid 2012 release, but things change day to day so we’ll see.
New album means new shows, so keep a look out for that! I have a feeling we might be touring a bit in March 2012, but most definitely mid 2012!
In other news, “Drop It!” is being released on a punk rock compilation through Kick Rock Music on December 7th in Japan alongside other great bands like Secret 7 Line, Caracal and Nothing To Declare. So if you live in Japan, pick it up or click here to order it from HMV Japan.
Well, i’ve got a coffee to drink and some lyrics to write.
Keep it (un)real!
Sam
ALL TIME HIGH!
Hey guys,
What’s goin’ down?
Well things are going just great for us at the moment! Our shows in Indonesia rocked, and our appearance at Baybeats 2011 in Singapore was spectacular. Good times for TDR!
So, what’s going on now?
We have a new song coming at you in the next week - it’s about 1 minute long (short?), and we spent LOADS of money making the music video. We’re giving away the song for free download on our site/facebook once it comes out too.
We have a show coming up in Singapore with the band ALL TIME LOW. Those of you who aren’t familiar, go youtube them because they are great. It’s on October 6th, at Wave House on Sentosa. Tickets are super cheap, go grab ‘em here!
In other news, we are in the process of writing a new album! Don’t get too excited (or excited at all), we wont start recording until later this year. We’ve got a great direction for a new album, we’ve been playing a new song at the shows and the reception has been great.
Ok, that’s all for now - thanks for the ongoing support! BIG LOVE!
THE DIRT RADICALS
Indonesia! I’ve got a rad feelin’ about this… !
So that magical time of year has come. We are preparing for a tasty festival in Jakarta (Java Rockin Land 2011). If you have no idea what this is, you might not live in Indo. So i’ll tell you - it’s 3 days of awesome bands like 30 Seconds to Mars and Good Charlotte. It’s happening on the 22, 23 and 24th of July. We are playing on the Friday, and we’re gonna be there hanging out - so come find us!
On a not so fun note, I wasn’t able to make the recent Japan tour. I got caught up with some boring ‘life’ stuff. You know, work related stuff that everyone hates. So I’m gonna go extra nuts in Indonesia and upcoming shows to make up for it!
In the pipeline: Philippines shows! More details TBA.
Keep checking back for updates. But for now, take it easy ‘n’ sleazy.
Matt
Taiwan was great! What’s next?!
Hey guys,
So we’re back home from Tour. It was great.
We landed in Taiwan on April 1st, drove for about 5 hours and owned Spring Scream Festival. Which is pretty much a hippie holiday retreat. So what did we do? We got really hammered on free Kavalan whiskey, and watched some awesome old school punk bands. There was this old school punk band from Japan there called Samurai Attack. They were sick!
After Spring Scream we drove to Taichung, played a few shows there - slept on our friend Yuki’s floor just for a bit of fun. He had a rabbit - i dont think said rabbit liked us very much. The shows were good, met some great people, got drunk some more. Taiwanese people love ‘Pack Your Bags’. Alot.
We then drove to Kaoshiung and played a show at ‘The Wall’ at Pier 2. Sweet venue. Me and my friend Kazman from Dont Turn Away were desperate for a good time - unfortunately we couldnt find a good time, so we just got back in the van and went back to our hotel.
After Kaoshiung was Taipei. 6pm, I went to a Mexican place that didnt sell Margaritas until 10pm. I left. Mas had some local food for dinner and i had a packet of combo’s and a ‘Kirin’. The show was unreal. We then stayed up all night, Mas tried to change his flight so it would be at the same time as mine, but failed. So, we had one of our infamous hotel breakfast hungover hangouts - i crashed, and he kept eating with a band called Astro Attack. I woke up and he was gone, and then i went to the airport and caught a plane. Taoyuan Airport isn’t very impressive.
So there you have it! Taiwan in a nutshell.
We have some shows to announce in the following days… They are good ones too! :D
Byyyeeeeee <3
